The Truth of Fiction
There is as much, if not more, truth in good fiction than any other written text. The more there is, the better the work and it’s not about the research. This seminar discusses good examples of fictional truth and how to get it in your own writing.
Message to Students
My advice for writers who have never attended SBWC is to relax and enjoy. You don’t actually have to take anyone’s advice or, for that matter, accept their criticism.
Wylene Wisby Dunbar is the author of Margaret Cape (winner of MIAL Best Fiction award); My Life with Corpses; and Entanglement (In progress). Dunbar’s life as a novelist has involved other areas of endeavor, including being a professor of philosophy and of law. She has also spent over a decade as a civil trial lawyer and, for the past seven years, has served as the CEO of an advanced physics research and development company.
