Interviews, audiobooks and podcasts have become a staple of publishing and promotion because busy people rely more and more on their ears to consume books and interviews. Join this team of experts for an insightful seminar on how to accomplish the goals of getting your book and book promotion into the audible range.

Part I

When promoting your book, podcasts are a great way to reach new audiences. Preparation is the key to a successful interview. Don't expect to wing it.  Good interviewers will ask tough questions. Lois Phillips will lead an interactive 1-hour workshop on mastering the art of the podcast interview, demonstrating how to be a great interviewee. After the roleplay exercise, the group will review how effectively the author-participant did and offer feedback. Each person will receive a worksheet of tips

Part II

Lisa Angle and Matthew Pallamary will talk about being on podcasts and producing podcasts to promote book sales offer support and guidance to other authors.

Part III

This part of this workshop will be a panel discussion on approaches to producing audiobooks. Turning your print book into an audiobook is a great way to build readership.  Claudia Dunn, Yvette Keller, and Matthew Pallamary are all experienced audiobook narrators. They will provide a practical roadmap on how to accomplish the goal of putting your print book onto an audio platform.

Lois Phillips is the Author of Women Seen and Heard, Speaker’s Journal Workbook with Dr Anita Perez Ferguson, and The History of Women Speakers: When Women Spoke up, They Changed History. Dr. Phillips is an experienced interviewee, as well as an interviewer. She’s a keynote conference speaker, and, for two years, was the host of a cable TV talk show.

Yvette Keller is the author of the Douglas Adams’ London, a literary guide from Herb Lester Associates. She writes short fiction and has appeared in a number of literary magazines. Her multiple talents include being a voice actor, and she has narrated many audiobooks. For fun, Yvette time travels in self-made historical costumes, reads constantly, and performs in short-form improv and live storytelling shows.

Lisa Angle helps writers expand their online presence with websites, newsletters, social media, podcasts, and video. She produces a weekly podcast, Angle on Writing interviewing authors and others in the writing industry. She also offers developmental editing for novels and memoirs. Her self-published historical novel, Whiskey and Old Stogies, landed on the long list for the 2021 MARK TWAIN Book Awards for Humor and Satire. She has always possessed a vivid imagination. She likes to combine her tech knowledge with helping writers build their author platforms.

Matthew J. Pallamary of Mystic Ink Publishing is author of an impressive list of award-winning works, all of which he wrote, published, and marketed himself. He’s also an expert on producing audiobooks.  He calls his hands-on approach guerilla marketing. He teaches the ever-popular Phantastic Fiction workshop at SBWC.

Claudia Dunn is a voice actor who has brought many stories to life: political thrillers, noir, self-help, historical nonfiction, memoirs, medical dramas, and inspirational works. You’ll often find her tending her rose garden, playing enough piano to be dangerous, and hiking the Montecito mountains. She splits her time between Los Angeles and her pro home studio by the sea in beautiful Santa Barbara.
